Reporter: Nowadays, with China entering a population aging era, elders' healthy problem has become more and more related to a family happiness. As an old saying that “Its low back and legs which the earliest get sick when people get old”, the lumbar disc disease is always threaten the elders' healthy. Junwei YOCBO is contributing lots to lumbar disc disease treatment and admired widely by patients. Answering the patients' requirement, today we invite vice-minister of China Doctor Association, Medical consultant of Hongkong International Patent Developing Center, CEO of Junwei Medical Treatment Health Device Co, Ltd, Head of Junwei Technology Department, Senior National Defence Engineer, Medical Consultant of Space Medical, and Inventor of YOCBO Mr. Feng Guozhu to talk about his invention history. Please talk something with the audience.

Mr. Feng: Hello, I was a war industry worker, professionally research and make weapons. I did not research medical device on purpose, but unluckily I suffered so much from my illness. In 1986, I got lumbar disc disease, so I had to leave my working position for two to three years. I suffered form lower back pain, leg pain, sciatica, gatism. It's very miserable remembers. In order to cure my disease I went through all big hospitals around; taking medicine; needling; doing massage; using Chinese paste, I spent over 20 thousands Yuan, but it just better without cure. At the end, I did traction treatment in some big hospital down town for 5 periods within two months. The result is combined with better feeling but no ending, once I did the traction; the pain was disappeared, but come out again when get up did some activities. Especially, the war factory is located in a suburb which is 70 to 80 miles away from down town. So my pain and illness was not found any better but serious through such a long hack and jack. Suffered in such a long period misery, I make up mind to find a way to get rid of the disease. Then I rack my brain to invent a home used medical device point to cure lumbar disc disease to avoid long run asking for others help. I believe that there is no difficulty that peole could not deal with. How could I match my senior engineer's title if I could not only found a way to cure my own disease? I should, can, am gong to invent something to cure lumbar disc disease.

Reporter: It's understandable that you can hold the desire to invent a curative machine under the suffering of disease. But you are not a medical professor, how comes the medical device theory?

Mr. Feng: I take advantage of my career. I am a space engineering technology worker and professionally worked in engine's research and design, always worked in space zero-gravity mold working environment the leg and lower back pain disappeared, but appeared again when I was out the levorotary. This condition made me think about the similar feeling of taking traction in the hospital that the pain will disappeared when doing traction but come again after the traction. In order to affirming my feeling about doing traction, I visited lots of lumbar disc disease patients and found that they shared the same feeling with me. All those experienced and founds enlightened me that the pain on lower back and legs could be reduced by unload, the upper body was braced the lower back pain could be easily killed. That means unload pressure is the key point in reducing and cure lower back and legs pain. This is the invention theory of YOCBO. According to theory basic, driving by the desire to cure my disease, I started to do some research work on bed when I recuperated for several months. Intermittent pressure reduction could just kill pain temporally but cure the disease from root, just like the function of traction bed. There for I use the national defense material and advanced production technology to designed out a simple origin device through thinking and selecting from several plans. From simple to complicated then back to complicate, YOCBO came into its now appearance and structure, through doing lots of improvements, it manifest obviously its curative effect, then I take with it to go out for some activities. I found that the pain was reduced and my activities become more and more convenient that I can do house work, walk out, climb mountains and fishing in the rivers as my wish. Because adopting the war industrial material, YOCBO is very small and light that it's not noticeable wearing it on lower back with dignity. I took it to join dance party one day inexpertly stirred others talking about. “As a national officer, Feng always complained to his lower back pain but so willing in dancing while asking for leave in his work”, “he is cheated to be ill! I would like to see how will he educated others”, “I don't believe Feng is that kind of person, maybe he is not content with the leader and try to complain something”…Some times I over heard about such kind of talking, but I didn't care and just dance. I hadn't been out for several years, why shouldn't I dance as I wish like the free bird? After about half month, it's in November then I danced sweated lots, I took off clothes under the tree. My secret was found! “Come on, come on, Feng is taking something pads on his lower back” some one shouted. The people aroused and stopped to see my pads. Since this propaganda, colleagues gave back my reputation and no one said I cheated to be ill any more. Before this, no one found my secret, even my dance partner. So after she got it, she told me that she's a little angry that I didn't tell her about my ill and the device. I explained to her I was afraid she didn't want to dance with me if she knows that I was ill and wear the device.

Reporter: You had danced with your partner for half month; didn't she found your secret? Don't you think it is too unbelievable?

Mr. Feng: It's very easy to understand that. All the dancers will know the girl puts hand on the man's shoulder and with another hand hold with man. So it's not unbelievable that she could not found the device on my lower back. If I were woman, it's obviously easy found by the others. This is also shows the device is very small and difficult to noticeable without losing dignity.

Reporter: It's really fascinated. Well how did you change it into a health product?

Mr. Feng: The news that I dance with pads stretched rapidly. I worked in the war industry factory, which gathering with all the workers in a big campus, so there is no secret between us such as we know who is suffering what kind of disease. So it's the old fellows who suffering lumbar disc disease the first knew the news and came to see my pads. They filled of my house and asked for my using pads experience. Still now, I don't know who steal my pads during my talking with the others, but I think that is a good thing because there must be some one who needed to take it to cure the disease. Afterwards some old fellows asked me to make more pads to help them reduce pain, through together working, we made 8 pieces of the device and sent them to the ones who real needed, even one piece transcend to a relative in Taiyuan, another city in another province. Only within 2 months, there are 64 cases were cured by using this device. This is almost a miracle and transferred to more and more people, hospital and TV station. I remember there were lots of TV programs invited me, one of them is Hebei invention space program in which my device take the first position in its sequence. Avoiding others to produce some device in fake of mine, I applied for my first national patent on it in 1996, which found a good reputation after announcement. Some people from South China, such as Hongkong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou , Dongwan, Wenzhou …called me, wrote to me to ask for cooperation and technology sale. I have received over 170 pieces of letters within 2 months and over200 telephone calls. One business man in Yueyang , Hunan province offered 700thousands to buy its patent exclusive right to use that aroused our factory head's attention. He decided that we produce it by ourselves but sell it to others. This is how my invention comes into a product. It received all the professors' good remarks in the Appreciation Meeting organized by provincial State Administration of Medical. “The inventor is a patient himself, he cured himself not only, but also the people around him, it is really effective”, “through the clinic tests in our hospital, it received good effects fulfill the vacant history in introducing traction home and cure disease all day long ”.

Reporter: Mr. Feng, how long doses it take you to put your invention on to market?

Mr. Feng: It's 13 years form 1986 to 2002, but in the first several years I just wanted to use my invention to help the people around me, didn't think about to put it into market.

Reporter: It's really hard thing. Is there some development in recent year?

Mr. Feng: After coming into market recent year, YOCOB has been arousing lots attentions from various area, and been made lots progress under the supports and helps from some space medicine, bio-dynamics, spine surgery professors; For example there added two function, magnetic and far-infrared treatment on the traction and supporting basics. When using in hospitals there are added another 4 Uses: (1) First Aid on lower back damage, (2) bracing care after surgery, (3) setting a broken bone, (4) adjusting odds spine. In this way, YOCBO's progress and development is the result of several professors and doctors. I am just one of them. YOCBO is just a medical device, is an object, but when given soul by professors it become a live one in cure people's disease.
